The example below is a section from our distillation experiment. Our non-majors, course 3321, do either the simple or the fractional distillation and exchange data with their partner. The majors, course 3361, do both simple and fractional in two sequential lab periods. I have one document of the distillation experiment but two versions within it, thanks to conditional text.

The first figure shows how the document reads when it's set to show 3321 text, with the Conditional Text dialog box open:

The next figure shows the dialog box that comes up if you click on the "show/hide" button:

The next figure shows how to set the indicators to show both 3321 and 3361 versions and to show the conditional indicators (I usually choose a different color for each course; this is done in the edit condition tag box).

The next three figures show the versions of the experiment, first with both 3321 and 3361 showing and the conditional text tags in color, then with just 3321 without color and finally just 3361 without color.
