Note from the Coordinator, Patty.
The organic chemistry facilities are staffed by one (and only one) person, the Lab Coordinator. (Click to see my picture.) I'm usually somewhere near my office when labs are in session during the regular semester. (Labs are in session every afternoon from 1:00-5:00 PM and Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00-12:00.)
Here are some of the things I can help you with:
I am the co-author of the third edition of Organic Laboratory Techniques by Fessenden, Fessenden, and Feist (2000, Brooks/Cole Publishing). If you have any comments on this text, I'd be pleased to hear them! Any errors, suggestions for new sections, suggestions for sections to delete (e.g., does anyone use refractometers anymore?), sections that would be clearer if re-worded . . . please direct comments to me so that the next edtion can be even better.
I also maintain these Organic Chemistry web pages. Please direct any problems, comments, constructive criticism, or praise to me. The server is located in my office, it's a Mac G4 named "orgchem". Orgchem is formatted Linux, thanks to James Mack, an engineering who works at LASP. He maintains the guts of the machine, I maintain the web pages. I "cheat" and use a site-building program called Adobe GoLive. I strive to keep the pages simple so that they will both load quickly and work on a variety of platforms.
