Sometimes you need to remove a spin bar from a flask. If you need the liquid in the flask and plan to pour it into another container, the spin bar will be in the way. If you are dumping the contents of the flask into a waste container, you need to remove the spin bar first or it will go into the waste container, never to be seen again.

A spin bar retriever is used to safely remove a spin bar from a container. The method is illustrated in the pictures below.

			The long cylindrical rod in the picture to the left is a spin bar retriever. Place the lower end in the flask containing the spin bar and liquid.
				The picture below illustrates the successful rescue of a spin bar from a flask.
